13 INTERESTING THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT HALLOWEEN


1.- ONCE UPON A TIME...

You aren't going to believe it but Halloween hasn't born in a fabric of sugar: this celebration exist for more than 6000 years, it is believed to have started in 4000 a.c in Ireland.

2.- ALIVE OR DEAD...

The origin of Halloween was in the ancient Celtic festival <<Samhain>>, the celebration in the end of the season of the crop. By then the Gaelic people thought that the 31 of October the world of the people who live and the world of the dead people in that night were united, so the dead people come to live and started upsetting, killing live people. How the people scare them? Wearing costumes.

3.-CLIN, CLIN

After Christmas, Halloween is the second celebration where people in USA spend their money, about 6900 millions of dollars in Halloween. They spend it in sweets, costumes, parties, decoration, and they spend it too in costumes for their pets.

4.- TITANIC? WHAT?

Of the 6900 millions of dollars they spend every year in the United States, only in sweets are about 2080 millions of dollars. How many sweets we can buy with all that money? About 224 millions of Kilos, and thats equals to 6 ships like Titanic.

5.-SWEETS, SWEETS...

An American person eats approximately 1.27Kilos of sweets in Halloween. That's the weight of a chihuahua wearing a Halloween costume!

6.-LET'S TALK ABOUT SUGAR

The <<Trick or Treat>>-(known for wearing costumes, and go house by house asking for sweets)-Kids in Halloween eat about 7000 calories(you should eat 66 bananas for eat 7000 calories).

7.-BUH!

Halloween scares you? So that means, maybe you have “Samhainofobia” , fear of Halloween.

8.-A WITCH? WHERE?

If you wear your clothes inside out or you walk backwards in Halloween, the tradition says:if you do that you will see a witch in the midnight.

9.-A BIG PUMPKIN...

The heaviest pumpkin in the world, was grown in Switzeland, and it was 782,31 Kg, like a small car.


10.-DOING WHAT? WHY?

The pumpkin and Halloween are united, like sweets and Halloween: carving pumpkin in Halloween it isn't only for fun, it's too because they believe that doing that they scare the bad spirits, so let's start carving pumpkin!


11.-FOLLOW THE RULES

The truth is that<<Trick or Treat>>it's just for kids: in some cities of the United Stated they have ban to people older than 12 years old to do the Trick or Treat . Some teenagers ignore that rule and do it but if they are caught they have to pay a penalty fee about 1000 dollars! Sure that 7000 calories of sweets can't pay that penalty fee!

12.-SMALL SPIDERS.

Do not scare or kill a spider in Halloween: people believe that the spirit of a family member or someone you love its protecting you that night.

13.-YOU HAVE BEEN DOING IT WRONG!

Probably you have been misspelling Halloween, and yes! We too. The correct word to write Halloween is Hallowe'en (All Hallows' Eve)
